Well, I just had a wonderous Memorial Day weekend. It started off simply enough, with Saturday, which my stepdad decided was lawnmowing day. This is normally pretty crappy, but this time it was especially crappy, because the riding lawnmower that he uses to do most of the lawn broke, so I had to do large sections of the lawn that I don’t normally do with the pushing mower. Ick. Then was Sunday, where I spend 12 hours of the day working! yay! Jason and I went to Waltham to implement his wonderous new network design. It went okay, but it took bloody forever, and we didn’t get the company-paid dinner we were promised. We ended up going to Denny’s instead. I have to remember to fill out an expense report for the gas I used driving around. On Monday, I had to go into work at noon for a meeting about what happened Sunday. This should have been quick and simple, but bunches of stuff were broken. So I got to spend the day fixing stuff, and I got to make another trick to Waltham to deliver a new switch to my boss to replace one that was acting wunky. Most annoying. And the company owes me $15 for pizza. I need to fill out an expense report. Tonight I get to see Andrea again though, so that is good. Perhaps the rest of the week won’t be crappy, and maybe I’ll get something cool for the time I put in over the weekend, though I kindof doubt it.
So tired…. this sucks. Since I got back to work from being sick I’ve been getting tired to the point of forgetting things I need to do around 7pm each night. It really sucks. Tomorrow is Jason’s birthday, which I had forgotten about again this year. I guess it doesn’t really matter, I never have gotten him anything, but I always think that I should for some reason. Going into Boston on Saturday to do some shopping, that should be fun. I like going to the import stores and getting stuff that I normally would have to order online. For some reason it just feels good to walk up to a counter and buy things still. Someone needs to open an import store in NH. That would be really happy cool. Hmm…. I’m tired. I had lunch at Sal’s today and ate too much pizza and a brownie. Soo very tasty, but so very filling. I’ve forgotten why I bother writing any of this now. Well, I get to leave work in another 20 minutes or so. I was hoping to hang out with Andrea tonight, but she’s busy having dinner with her parents. I guess I might go to SimPro and do some work, or maybe go visit Stacey and give her the Buffy tape. oh yeah, I need to remember to congradulate Dan and Jenn (I hope I spelled that right) on getting married. I’ll probably forget though.
Well, it’s Monday and I’m back at work. Last week I was stuck home due to an annoying illness. I was running a fever between 102 and 104 most of the time, and my stomach felt kindof wobbly from time to time. It was not fun. I was in work on Friday though, but I was feeling like crap at the time still. I’m finally feeling mostly better today, though I still don’t feel 100% better.
Well, it turns out Jason’s meetings was about this cool load balancing system he wants to put in place to make everything happier and faster. I hope it gets approved, it would be really neat.
This sucks. I’m hungry, and Jason and I were supposed to go to lunch, but he got pulled into the bosses office a while ago. I think I might get lunch without him if he’s much longer. Also, it’s Friday! Which is normall a good thing, but here at Net-Temps it means mutant karaoke day. It’s when the people downstairs “sing”. They play bad music from the 80’s and the LifeLinkers try and sing to it. But they do so through giant speakers turned up full blast right under the tech megacube here. It really sucks. I suppose it’s not nice to call them mutants, but it is really annoying when they do this. It’s hard to believe that the company owners though that being above LifeLinks was better than the pizza place.
Well, it was a pretty long day at work today. Mostly working on some scripts to do city to zipcode look ups, nothing too exciting. Jason was out sick today though, apparently due to some bad beef from the 99. Andrea and I went out to dinner at Friendly’s. The food there has actually improved since the last time I was there, it wasn’t that bad. Then we rented some movies (which I have forgotten the names of again) then just hung out for a while before I had to run off to do SimPro work. At Simpro, I managed to get the server side dialer script to dial and begin a conversation with the chicken, but nothing too great is working yet. I blame the problems on local echo. I’m running a test as I write this with it off. Hmm… doesn’t seem to help. Oh well. I think I’ll go home now. My mother got mad at me today, thinking that I came home last night at 5:30am, when I was really home at 12:30am. I should be home at 2am today, hopefully that isn’t too late for anyone.
Well, finally got the two modems at SimPro talking to each other, though if I go higher than 9600 baud then something goes wrong and they become unhappy. I blame it on getty. Not sure how to fix it though. The server end of it should be easier, I think. Anyway, I’m pretty happy with what I got done tonight. Andrea says she has to do homework tomorrow night, so I’ll probably be back here working on it again tomorrow. Hopefully I can make it work so I can have my Clie.
