Clones!

Yay! As planned Jason and I went to see Star Wars: Attack of the Clones last night (or rather, early this
morning) at 12:01am, the first showing on opening day. We went down to
Lowell around 7:30ish, picked up the tickets and then had dinner at the
Outback next to the theater. Around 10 we went to get in line. By that
time the line had just started to go out the back doors of the theater.
We ended up being in about the middle of the line. Around 11:15 they
started letting people in the theater. We managed to get some fairly
good seats, kindof far back and toward the right side.

Around midnight the trailers started, and there were a bunch of them,
including The Matrix Reloaded, which looks pretty impressive (due out
in 2003.) The movie itself is great. Much much better than Episode 1.
Jason thinks it’s nearly up to the level of Empire, but I’m not so
sure. It’s definitely good, but I still think I put the original 3 above
it. It was considerably less happy than the first one, with a lot more
fighting and plotting and stuff. I’ll have to drag Andrea to see it with
me sometime soon, probably once the crowds die down a bit.

In other news, work is going well. Finally sorted out a very annoying
problem I was having today, which makes a pretty good milestone in the
project. We’re headed over to the hydro plant in a little bit to update
the software. Should be good stuff.

Movies, Work, and Stuff

I’ve been fairly busy for the past week getting ready for a product demo that took place this morning. On the plus side, everything went well,
and the people seemed interested in the project, though not everything
is working yet. Spend most of yesterday working on it in addition to the
past couple of weeks. Ended up working till about 3am last night on it,
so I’m a little out of it today. Without a pressing deadline, I don’t
really feel motivated to work on anything more right now. Perhaps
tomorrow will be more productive.

Last Friday, Andrea and I went to the Milford Drive-In to see
The Scorpion King and Panic Room. The former was a terrible movie. It’s
basically just Dwayne (aka The Rock) running around killing people. It
really has next to nothing in common with either of The Mummy movies. It’s
pretty good as a bad movie though, if you like that sort of thing.
Panic Room wasn’t much better, it’s just boring. We stayed for maybe the
first half-hour, at which point I decided I didn’t really care what happened
in the movie anymore, so we went home.

Saturday, we went into Concord to do some shopping, and she went out to
dinner with her parents and grandparents. I would have gone, but I was
expecting to go to Boston with Jason
to see Escaflowne. Problem was
twofold however. Firstly, Jason didn’t return my calls till about 9:12
(showtime was expected to be 10), and secondly, the movie had stopped
playing on Thursday. Ah well. Poor planning. I ended up playing
Counter-Strike and Metal Gear Solid 2 instead.

Currently I’m looking forward to seeing Star Wars: Attack of the Clones on
Wednesday night. I ordered by tickets online on Friday. Supposedly Jason is
going with me, but we shall see.

Also, I’m trying to gather information about when everybody is coming
back to Milford. My plan is to try and get everybody together sometime.
Josh is leaving on the 27th to go to Microsoft for the summer.
Matt’s getting back early next month.
Nick is apparently already around, just hiding.
Dave is back Tuesday after next.
I doubt everyone will be able to get together due to various schedules, but
it’s worth a shot anyway.

Also, Paul gave me the AIM
name of my old friend Dan. I havn’t talked to Dan in ages, since he
moved to Texas. He’s the one who introduced me to all sort of wondrous
movies and stuff. Hopefully he appears online soon.

Was just working on adding a Tomato Rating from Rotten Tomatoes to
Showtimes, when I noticed that the
Brattle Theater in Boston is showing
Escaflowne: The Movie. Might be worth a trip into Boston this weekend
to check it out. It’s the same theater where I saw Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

Anyone interested in going?
