Games and stuff and stuff and stuff

Another week passes, and another post is made. I really should update more often, but I just don’t think of it. Anyway. Been playing a lot
of Counter-Strike recently, mostly on the
F.o.R servers. My friend and ex-coworker
Jon is part of their clan. Jason’s been
working on getting a server up, but he’s having some odd firewall
issues, so I’m not sure when that’s going to happen. It’ll be nice to
have admin access on a server again.

Last Saturday, Matt, Dave, Jason, and Dave’s friend who I can’t remember
the name of all of a sudden but know he’s on LJ as Shiftless went to see
Minority Report. I liked it. Then again, I like pretty much any movie
with Brewmeister Smith. Sure,
it’s not the greatest movie of all time, but it’s definitely one of the
better movies to come out so far this year.

On Sunday, Andrea and I went for a drive up to Dover to go to Newick’s.
Yes, I know there’s a Newick’s in Merrimack, but that doesn’t involve a
fun drive, does it? We didn’t actually know how to get where we wanted
to go, so we kindof wandered around Dover for a bit looking for it.
Andrea eventually remembered a bridge we were about to cross, and knew
how to get to it from there, so it all worked out. It was fun.

Last night, Matt, Jason, and I went to CompUSA. I purchased Neverwinter Nights, which looks really spiffy. I haven’t played it yet, but I might
tonight. Matt picked up some networking supplies to go with his shiny
new cable modems.

Just thought I’d throw this up before heading to bed. I’ve been working on my website a little. Everything still in the Development Area, but you should be able to view it no problems. New features include a new modular design system (though you won’t be able to tell), a new XML based embedded LiveJournal, new layout in the Computer section under Geek Stuff, and some minor visual tweaks.

I still need to hammer out some caching issues (server-side) so it doesn’t have to regenerate everything all the time. Then after some testing, I’ll throw it into the main area. Yay!

Well, it’s been a while since I posted, and I still can’t think of all that much to write about. Dave
and Matt are back in town. We got
together last weekend for some fun fun LAN games. We played some Jedi
Knight II
and Half-Life. Matt didn’t seem to have all that good a
time, but everyone else seemed to be having fun.

Before the LAN party began, I installed some new parts in my PC. I
finally replaced that heatsink that fell off with a Swiftech that screws
onto the motherboard. Now I have no fear that I will fall off again. I
also got a DVD-ROM drive, a SoundBlaster Audigy, and some rounded
cables. It’s all pretty slick now. I did however find out on Sunday,
after the LAN games, that way back when I got the new motherboard (after
the first one was fried when the heatsink fell off), I never set the
frontside bus speed correctly, so it was set to 100Mhz instead of
133Mhz, causing my CPU to run around 1.1Ghz instead of 1.5Ghz. Can’t
believe I didn’t notice it for so long.

Anyway, after figuring out my PC had been running too slow, Andrea and I
went out to dinner and then to the Milford Drive-In
to see High Crimes and Bad Company. I thought they
were both pretty good, though the former got a little slow at times. I
don’t think either one is anything terrible special, but good to kill
some time. However, don’t go see them both at a drive-in on a Sunday night when
you have to get up for work the next morning. That doesn’t work too well…

That reminds me, last Thursday, Matt, Chris, and I went and saw Sum of All Fears.
That is a good movie, and I recommend it. Not sure what else
to say, since it would be hard to say anything without giving away parts
of the movie. So go see it.
