Goodbye 145 #30
March 1st, 2003
As of about noon today, I no longer have anything in the old apartment. With the help of Dave and his kids, we managed to get most of my stuff moved out last night, then I spent this morning getting the last of it and doing some cleanup. Now I have a bunch of stuff strewn all about my new apartment, and a fun weekend of unpacking and arranging stuff ahead of me. There are a few things that I’m looking forward to doing with the new apartment:
- X-10 stuff: I’m planning on replacing all the light switches with X-10 controllable switches, so that I can remotely control all the lights. Also, I think they make a heavy duty appliance module that I can use on the air conditioner, which would be a nice energy saver, being able to turn the unit off during the day and having it automatically turn on before I get home.
- Furniture: I need to buy a few new pieces of furniture to make the new place livable. Such diverse elements as a couch, a coffee table, and maybe a lamp or two are required.
- A/V System: I’ve got a plan in my head for connecting the little TV in the bedroom to the coax output of the TiVo, which I don’t normally use, by connecting some of the extra wallplates together. It should be fairly simple, and with the help of some IR transceivers I should be able to control the TiVo for either TV.
Guess that’s about it for now. I’m sure I’ll come up with some more stuff later on.
