Kill your Television

March 24th, 2004

Another weekend past and time for an update on my wondrous life. It was an interesting weekend, with Delia dragging me to Manray on Friday night. She even managed to get me to put blue junk in my hair, as can be seen in the pictures. I was somewhat hesitant to go, but I ended up having a good time. The rest of the weekend was rather relaxing. Delia got me to pick up a card game called Apples to Apples from the Tower. We ended up playing it most of Saturday night, and for a good amount of time on Monday as well. Worth picking up.

Sunday I sat in on another session of [info]darkenna’s D&D game. I’m going to be joining it with the next session. It seems a lot more thought out than most of the campaigns I’ve been in, so it should be a fun change of pace. I had been looking for a group to get into for a while now, and this seems like a good group of people.

In case you’re wondering about the subject of the post, I’ve decided to cancel my cable TV and TiVo subscription. I find that I’m not at home nearly enough to actually watch anything, and when I am home I have better things I should be doing. I figure the few shows that I do watch I can probably pick up online, or just wait till they’re available on DVD and get them via NetFlix. This does, however, make my TiVo somewhat useless, so if anyone is interested in buying a used AT&T-branded Series 2 (kindof) TiVo that’s been upgraded to 200 hours, let me know.

You are cautious in showing your true self to others.

So what you gonna do for internet access?

I’m planning to keep the Internet portion of the cable service, just turning off the TV parts of it. Or I might look into switching to Verizon DSL, though I’m not sure I can get DSL without having phone service as well.

Darn, Chip! And I just bought a new 140 hour Series 2 about two weeks ago. ;-) I would have gladly made you an offer on yours.

The nice thing about NetFlix is that their regional distribution center is in Manchester. The mail turnaround on your orders is pretty quick.
