Thanksgiving

Well, it’s the first day back at work after a nice long holiday weekend.
Overall I had a nice break. For Thanksgiving, I went over to Andrea’s
parents’ house for dinner, bringing with me some Chex Mix (I made it
myself!) It was a pretty standard Thanksgiving dinner, turkey, stuffing,
gravy, cranberry sauce and the like. It was all very tasty.
On Friday, I spent most of the day just hanging around playing CS and FFX.
I finally got past the boss I was stuck on in FFX, and have made a lot of
progress in the past few days. Andrea convinced me to go out shopping with
her, which wasn’t so bad. I was surprised the mall wasn’t much busier, but
I guess since we went at night that most of the crowds had already gone away.
Saturday was much like Friday, except Matt and I went to see Die Another Day.
I thought it was an okay movie, not the best Bond film ever, but not terrible.
I think is was better than the last one, but not as good as Goldeneye.
I do think they need to stop with the space lasers. Sorry, that was
probably a spoiler… oh well.
On Sunday, Andrea and I went to my mother’s house for a family breakfast.
After that we all went up to Manchester to see a hockey game in the Verizon
Wireless Arena, it was the Manchester Monarchs vs. the someplace-or-other
Bulldogs (I think.) As you can probably tell, I’m really into hockey…
Manchester lost badly, but it was still fun to watch.
That’s about it for current events. In other news, I’ve been digging up
some hardware for my HTPC project. I don’t really like calling it a Home
Theater box, since it’s really more of a Home Entertainment device, but it
seems to be the accepted acronym for what I want to do. So anyway, I am
thinking of getting an ASUS A7N266-VM
in a CoolerMaster ATC 610-GX1
with probably an AthlonXP 1800+ or so. For connectivity, I was thinking of
grabbing a wireless card to have it link back to my access point, and then
it could also serve as a bridge for my TiVo and PS2. It should be neat, the
whole thing comes to about $600 from NewEgg.
