General Life Update

February 3rd, 2006

I’ve been meaning to write an update for a while, I was originally intending to write it as a New Year’s thing, but I’m a slacker, so yeah…

Anyway, for those of you who don’t know, I am once again employed doing what I’m actually good at. I’m working as an Application Developer for Dynamic Network Services, Inc., right here in sunny Manchester. It’s mostly perl programming, working on their website and some of the support systems. I’ve been there about a month now, and it’s been great.

I’m still working at PepBoys on Saturdays, though I’m not sure how long I’ll keep doing that. Mostly it’s just because I know they’re low on people and can use the help, and the little extra money helps out.

Other than that, I haven’t really been up to much. I go to a couple D&D games each week, other than that it’s just work and sleep. Delia’s still playing WoW a lot, but I’ve lost most of my interest in it except to kill time from time to time.

That’s about all I can think of at the moment. I could have sworn I had more to write about, but I can’t think of any of it at the moment.

State of the Chip

April 5th, 2004

Been a little bit since I’ve updated, so I thought I’d just post a kindof general update on life in general. Life has been going pretty well as of late, meeting a bunch of new people, largely thanks to Delia. Not sure if I’ve mentioned this in here yet, but I’m very glad that I met her when I did, life has been much more interesting with her around. Thanks again for bursting the boring bubble.

In gadget news, I did finally get a new cell phone, a Nokia 3589i to replace the old one that was beginning to break apart. So far it seems to be pretty slick. I like being able to tie multiple numbers to the same contact, and I should be able to load in custom ring tones and have different rings for different people. Just need to get the data cable for it at some point to begin playing with it.

Started playing in Angel’s D&D game yesterday. It’s good to be in a group again, I really enjoy playing, but trying to keep a group going always ends up being difficult. From what I’ve seen so far he seems like a good DM, with a pretty good amount of planning going into the game. Should make for an interesting diversion. Also, one of Delia’s other friends is probably going to be joining, bringing the party up to 6, which I think makes it the largest group I’ve played in.

On the work front things are pretty much the same as always, plodding along. I did get to spend a day last week working for IronCastle, which was a nice change of pace. Some day I’ll be working for IronCastle full time, and just doing work for SimPro on a contract basis through them, which I look forward to. Working on the same project for too long gets rather tedius. I wish these voice modems would either start working the way their supposed to, or just explode or something.

As for upcoming events, a bunch of us are going to go see either Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Hellboy this evening. Neither movie was really on my to-see list earlier in the year, but they both look pretty good, so I’m looking forward to it. Wednesday is Dan’s birthday, though I don’t think we’re doing anything on Wednesday for it, due to family plans. This weekend I’m heading up to Maine to visit my mom and Ralph for Easter, maybe stopping in at the Loft at some point.

Weekend after that is Delia’s birthday, which apparently we’re having a party at my place for. I still need to decide on a present for her, but for once I actually have plenty of ideas, I just need to figure out which one is best.

Farther out, I’m thinking of taking another trip someplace this summer, maybe down to Texas to visit Matt again, or do the Michigan/Indiana thing again. Don’t know yet. Maybe go somewhere completely new and different.

Twenty Seven

March 15th, 2004

Back at work after a most enjoyable weekend, and actually finding myself in a reasonably good mood at the office today, despite the fact that I spent at least part of my morning on the cold, wet, broken-glass-covered ground changing a flat tire on the Focus. Going to head out in a bit to get the tire checked out, hopefully it’s nothing major, as I really don’t feel like replacing another rim.

As for the weekend, Friday night was spent bowling with Amanda, Dan, Delia, Snood, Shadow, and Tim. We bowled two games, I did pretty poorly the first one, then threw 6 strikes in the second one. One of my better games, I think. Afterward, we made our way to Applebee’s for dinner, then the Milford crew went back to Milford and I went with Delia and Snood to Shadow’s house for a bit. Upon eventually returning to Manchester, we came to discover that Snood’s car was missing. A couple of phone calls revealed that it had been towed, which is fairly rare for my apartment place. So they ended up just crashing at my place (hooray for futon) and we got his car back in the morning. Never a dull moment. :)

Saturday was Delia’s concert with the Merrimack Community Chorus. It was a formal event, so I wasn’t so sure about going at first. Delia said I could just go in my normal work clothes, decent pants with one of my pocketed shirts. By the time I got home and was actually getting ready, I decided to don my suit for the event anyway. I think it was the first time I actually enjoyed getting dressed up for anything. The concert was quite good, and I’m looking forward to getting one of the recordings. Also looking forward to the next concert, which I intend to drag a couple of people along to.

On Sunday, I went with Delia to the mall, where she got a Hello Kitty pirate tshirt. I think it looks pretty cool. I’ll have to get a picture when she wears it. After that I tagged along for a meeting at Denny’s, which was apparently much smaller and less eventful than these meetings typically are. Afterward, we wandered over to Headlines, where Delia got a piece of jewelry that I have to keep away from her for a while. She doesn’t want too many people to know about it, so I’ll just be vague about it. :) From there we went to sit in on a D&D session with Shadow and Angel, which was vaguely interesting. I had very little idea what was currently going on, since they were in the middle of what sounded like a fairly complicated adventure. I think I might ask if I can join up with that group though, I miss playing, and it really doesn’t seem like Kris’s campaign is going anywhere.

So, that’s about it for my weekend. I’ve got some other ideas floating around in my head, but I’ll write them down later, I think.
